On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the starboard flight (1) deck walkway looking aft from 217 station. Four cable reels and an avcat fuel pump unit are in the walkway. The submarine depot ship Forth (1938) is berthed alongside number 8 wharf in the background and the submarine Andrew (1946) is alongside her. A vertical format negative.
