On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the starboard flight (1) deck walkway looking aft from 201 station. A stairway leading down to 2 deck is in the foreground and a fire point and chemical foam locker is in the walkway with a scupper beyond it. The submarine depot ship Forth (1938) is alongside number 8 wharf in the background with the submarine Andrew (1946) alongside her. A vertical format negative.
