On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the starboard flight (1) deck walkway looking forward from 195 station. Two cable reels are in the foreground abaft a scupper and a fire point with chemical foam locker is ahead of the scupper. A telephone is on the right. The aircraft carrier Ark Royal (1950) is alongside number 5 wharf in the background. A vertical format negative.
