On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the starboard flight (1) deck walkway looking aft from 169 station showing a cable reel and an avcat fuel pump unit with a scupper abaft it. A stack of planks is on the flight deck. A vertical format negative.
