Hermes (1953). On the hangar (2) deck during conversion.
A 35 mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the hangar (2) deck looking forward and to port from just to starboard of the centreline at 192 station. A double door is open to show the aft lift raised above deck level. Two large four-wheeled towable flatbed trailers are stacked one on top of the other on the left.
