Hermes (1953) and Ark Royal (1950) in the north yard at HM Dockyard, Devonport
A 35 mm roll film negative. The port bow of the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the quayside and the starboard bow of the aircraft carrier Ark Royal (1950) alongside 5 wharf is on the left. In the background is the fleet oiler Olmeda (1964), pendant A124, seen from just ahead of her starboard broadside.
