On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the walkway on the port side of the flight (1) deck at 27 station looking forward showing a fire point with chemical foam locker and a cable reel. The aircraft carrier Ark Royal (1950) is alongside number 5 wharf in the background. A vertical format negative.
