Hermes (1953) in the north yard at HM Dockyard, Devonport. On the port forward sponson of the flight (1) deck during conversion.
A 35 mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the forward edge of the forward sponson on the port side of the flight (1) deck at 42 station looking aft showing the end of the angled flight deck. A welder's face mask, torch and rods are on the deck. Two lockers, a wooden packing case and two rubbing strake blocks are on the sponson. Three fork lift trucks and a towing truck registered 3073RN are on the flight deck on the left.
