A 35 mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the forward sponson on the port side of the flight (1) deck at 48 station looking forward showing an aircraft servicing power outlet, a fire point with chemical foam locker and an avcat fuel pump unit. Two hoses cross the walkway from the flight deck. Two rubbing strake blocks, a wooden packing crate and a welder's face mask, torch and rods are on the sponson. The aircraft carrier Ark Royal (1950) is alongside number 5 wharf in the background.
