On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the port walkway alongside the flight (1) deck at 97 station looking forward showing an aircraft servicing power outlet and wheel chock stowage. An avcat fuel pump unit and a glide path indicator are beyond the steps. Containers are on the deck edge lift. A vertical format negative.
