On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the port walkway alongside the flight (1) deck at 101 station looking aft showing a locker, a fire point with chemical foam locker and an avcat fuel pump unit. A brow and containers are on the flight deck. the submarine depot ship Forth (1938) is alongside number 8 wharf in the background. A vertical format negative.
