On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the port walkway alongside the flight (1) deck at 116 station looking aft showing an aircraft servicing power outlet, a flat-topped locker and an avcat fuel pump unit. Containers, a trailer, drums of paint and stacks of pallets are on the flight deck and the submarine depot ship Forth (1938) is alongside number 8 wharf in the background. A vertical format negative.
