On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the flight (1) deck at 68 station looking forward into the starboard walkway showing an avcat fuel pump unit and a fire hose point with chemical foam locker. On the right is inflatable liferaft stowage. On the flight deck is the RAS (replenishment at sea) outhaul winch. A vertical format negative.
