On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the starboard walkway of the flight (1) deck at 43 station looking to port and slightly forward showing a locker on the left and a fire hose point with chemical foam locker on the right. A large and five small electrical boxes and a steel ladder are on the bulkhead.
