A 35 mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is in the starboard walkway of the flight (1) deck at 13 station looking aft. A chemical foam locker is in the foreground with a scupper beyond it. The lattice mast for the FU1 aircraft direction finder aerial is on the left. On the flight deck ahead of the island is the RAS (replenishment at sea) outhaul winch and alongside the island is a lorry mounted Simon telescopic platform registered 16RN22. A vertical format negative.
