A 35 mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the alaskan highway on the starboard side of the flight (1) deck at 99 station looking aft and slightly to port at the island superstructure. A fire point with chemical foam locker is between a steel ladder and steel rungs. Five grenade lockers are suitably marked. The pendant number R12 and the Combined Operations crest are on the island at 02 deck level. The boat crane is in the background.
