A 35 mm roll film negative. On board the commando carrier Hermes (1953) alongside 6 and 7 wharves in the north yard of Devonport Dockyard in early July 1973 towards the end of her conversion from a fixed wing aircraft carrier to a commando carrier. She recommissioned after conversion on 18 August 1973. The photographer is on the starboard side of the flight (1) deck at 73 station looking aft at the forward end of the island showing the open watertight door into the 28 volt rectifier compartment. A fire point with chemical foam locker is on the deck with a RAS (replenishment at sea) gear locker in front of it and RAS cable reels are on 01 deck level in front of the bridge. A weapons lift cover surrounded by guardrail stanchions is to port of the island.
