Situation of the Pilot & la Legere, at the close of the action on the 17 June 1815.
This aquatint vignette depicts the action between the French La Legere (on the left of the picture) and the British naval brig sloop Pilot, slightly to leeward, off Cape Corso on 17 June 1815. Both ships are shown in port broadside view, on port tacks, under full sail, but those sails are severely holed. Pilot is firing her port bow guns at Legere.
This picture was originally published in the Naval Chronicle (Volume XL, p.484) as Plate 523 and inscribed “The last action between the ships of England and France.”
