Mohawk (1962). Looking forward from the helicopter pad (01 deck).

A roll film negative. On board the Tribal class type 81 frigate Mohawk (1962) in Portsmouth Dockyard. She was in a dry dock from 21 March to 11 April 1972 when she moved to the South Railway Jetty, where this photograph was taken. The photographer is on the helicopter landing pad on 01 deck at 74 station looking forward showing the barrels of the Mark 10 Limbo mortar in the foreground. On either side of the aft funnel are the GWS 21 Seacat directors. The helicopter night flying lighting arrangements comprising two sets of three floodlights, a glide path indicator and three horizon lights are fitted to and just abaft the after funnel. At the top of the foremast is the AKE (1) mattress aerial for the type 965(M) radar. Ahead of the ship is the commando carrier Bulwark (1948). A vertical format negative.
