Mohawk (1962). Her starboard side amidships from 62 to 79 stations taken from the jetty.

A roll film negative. On board the Tribal class type 81 frigate Mohawk (1962) in Portsmouth Dockyard. She was in a dry dock from 21 March to 11 April 1972 when she moved to the South Railway Jetty, where this photograph was taken. The photographer is standing on the jetty abreast the ship's stern looking forward and to port showing the starboard side of the ship between 62 and 79 stations. On the left is the aft 4.5 inch gun. An 829 Squadron Westland Wasp HAS.1 helicopter, serial XS 568 built in 1964 and coded 474, is lashed down on the landing pad. This helicopter was allocated to the ship from 22 March 1972 to June 1973 when it crashed into the Indian Ocean. The after funnel has the night flying lighting arrangement fitted to and immediately abaft it. This consists of three floodlights mounted on each side of the funnel with a glide path indicator mounted below the funnel vents and three horizon lights mounted on an horizontal bar below the indicator. The ship is dressed overall. In the left background is a Royal Fleet Auxiliary replenishment oiler, either Tidepool (1962) or Tidespring (1962).
