A roll film negative. On board the Tribal class type 81 frigate Mohawk (1962) in Portsmouth Dockyard. She was in a dry dock from 21 March to 11 April 1972 when she moved to the South Railway Jetty, where this photograph was taken. The photographer is standing on the starboard side of 01 deck at 64 station looking aft at the 829 Squadron Westland Wasp HAS.1 helicopter, serial XS 568 built in 1964 and coded 474, which is lashed down on the starboard side of the landing pad. This helicopter was allocated to the ship from 22 March 1972 to June 1973 when it crashed into the Indian Ocean. The ship is dressed overall and berthed astern is the frigate Ashanti (1959), which is not dressed overall. A number of motor cars are parked on South Railway Jetty. In the background on the left is Old Portsmouth and on the right are Fort Blockhouse, Haslar and Gosport Hardway.
