On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd at Linthouse, Glasgow. The photographer is in the operations room between 31 and 35½ stations on 1 deck looking into the starboard aft corner from to starboard of the centre of the room. A voicepipe is on the right with the positions of two communications ratings next to it and above their positions is the fleet stateboard. Next to them is the logger's position with the fleet disposition board above his station and an amplifier next to it. Against the starboard side of the ship is a chart table. On the left are a telephone, electric fire and a range and bearing indicator.
