On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd at Linthouse, Glasgow. The photographer is in the operations room between 31 and 35½ stations on 1 deck looking forward and to port from to port of the centre of the room. A gun direction and tracker control unit is on the right with a relay unit, an emergency lamp and the transparent air plot screen above next to it. The gunnery direction officer's position is in the centre. The A.A. co-ordination plot and tote screen and the target indicating unit Mark 5 cabinet are against the port side of the ship.
