On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd at Linthouse, Glasgow. The photographer is in the senior officer's day cabin between 35 and 38 stations on the port side of 1 deck looking aft and to starboard from the door into his sleeping cabin. An air conditioning unit is at high level on the aft bulkhead which also has the doors into his pantry and the passageway. Against the inboard bulkhead are a desk with a bookshelf and a glass fronted cupboard above it and a sideboard with an emergency lamp next to it.
