On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd at Linthouse, Glasgow. The photographer is in the asdic control room between 35 and 39 stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking aft and to port from the starboard forward corner. The three chairs in the right foreground are for the depth console, the range console and the central operator console. The two chairs on the left are for a range console and a bearing console. The C.O's. chair is on a raised platform and behind it is the recorder bearing console. Asdic dome movement control panels are facing the C.O's chair and unit range retransmission panels are in the alcove facing to starboard. On the aft bulkhead in the alcove is an asdic type 177 junction box over a speed gauge.
