The Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960). The gunnery director, foremast and funnel.
A close detail of the gunnery director, foremast and funnel of the Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd at Linthouse, Glasgow. The photographer is on the quayside looking at the port side of the ship showing the Mark 6M gunnery director, the aerial for the Type 277Q radar on a short lattice structure, the foremast and the funnel. The cheese aerial for the type 293Q radar is on the port side of the masthead platform and the FH4 HF/DF frame is at the top of the mast. The number 5 on the funnel shows she is to be a unit of the 5th frigate squadron. A vertical format negative.
