On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd at Linthouse, Glagow. The photographer is in the C.P.Os. mess between 16 and 21½ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to starboard from near the doorway at 19 station on the inboard side of the mess showing a double tier bunk unit on the left and another against the starboard side of the ship. An electric fire with a locker above it, bookshelves, a letter rack, a loudspeaker and an electric fan are against the aft bulkhead. Seven easy chairs and a folding table are crammed together in the centre of the mess.
