The Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960). In the coxswain's office/regulating office between 29½ and 31 stations on the port side of 2 deck (see physical description)
On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd at Linthouse, Glagow. The photographer is in the coxswain's office between 29½ and 31 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking to port showing a bunk bed hinged up on the right. A desk and chair, kit locker, pigeon hole shelving, double locker and single locker are against the aft bulkhead. A state of the crew board is in the port aft corner. On Admiralty Curator Plan No. 902504 this compartment is described as the regulating office but on Admiralty Curator Plan No. 902439/2 (sheet 2 of 4 as fitted drawings) it is shown as the coxswain's office. Up to 1968 the regulator on ships below cruiser size was the coxswain but with the abolition of the coxswain rating in 1968 the regulating office was staffed by a member of the Regulating Branch. A vertical format negative.
