On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd at Linthouse, Glasgow. The photographer is in the P.Os mess between 49 and 55¾ stations on the port side of 2 deck looking aft and to port from near the doorway at 53½ station. Two double berth bunk settee units are against the side of the ship and another is on the left abaft the greatcoat locker. An electric fire is against the aft bulkhead with two bookracks, two loudspeakers and a Thermotank air condition unit above. Five chairs are in the centre of the space.
