On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd at Linthouse, Glasgow. the photographer is in the main naval store between 8 and 12½ station on 3 deck looking forward and to starboard from just to port of the centreline at 12 station. The space is fitted out with aluminium alloy framed shelving and drawer units that have wooden ends. the storekeeper's desk, cupboard and ledger rack is in the forward starboard corner and an electric fire is mounted by the side of the doorway. In the foreground is the watertight hatch leading down to the asdic compartment on 4 deck and a framework with the words 'Plate rack' on it is by the side of the hatch.
