The photographer is in no. 1 mortar projectile magazine between 62½ and 68 stations on the port side of 3 deck looking aft from inside the forward projectile stowage rack. The forward rack holds 38 projectiles, one of which is in the foreground, and the aft rack hold 15 projectiles. The watertight door into the seamen's aft mess is open.
