On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960) alongside the fitting out berth of Alexander Stephen & Sons Ltd at Linthouse, Glasgow. The photographer is in the seamen's mess between 68 and 75 stations on 3 deck looking forward and to port on the port side of the mess showing double bunk berths and bread lockers against the port side of the ship with three mess tables and stools on either side taking up much of the deck space. Kit and greatcoat lockers are against the forward bulkhead with more kit lockers on the right. A litter bin and stands for an electric kettle and an urn are fixed to the back of the forward kit lockers. The watertight door into the lobby is closed.
