On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 11½ and 16 stations on 2 deck, looking forward and to starboard from 15 station. Two drums of firefighting foam liquid are in the foreground with a resistance box and a circuit breaker box for the type 162 sonar above them. The door to the small arms store is in the background.
