The Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960). In the passageway between 16 and 23 stations on 2 deck.

On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 16 and 23 stations on 2 deck, looking aft and to port from 20 station. The open hatch to the 4.5 inch shell room on 3 deck is against the gun bay in the left foreground with a telephone mounted to the right of it. An International compressed air breathing apparatus cabinet is against the port side of the ship adjacent to the watertight door at 23 station. The closed roller shutter to the canteen is in the extreme right foreground.
