On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the junior rates' mess between 68 and 75 stations on 3 deck looking aft from 70 station in the centre of the port side of the mess showing triple tier bunk units on the right and against the aft bulkhead. Triple tier bunk units, kit lockers, an automatic emergency lantern and an electric fire are on the left. A vertical format negative.
