On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the port bridge wing between 30 and 34 stations on 01 deck looking aft from 30 station. A box for the hand signalling lantern and a microphone are against the wing screen in the foreground. A fire extinguisher, the platform for the 10 inch signalling projector operator and an azimuth repeater are further aft. The port side 2 inch rocket flare launcher is above the 3 inch Mark 4 Knebworth-Corvus rocket launcher in the background. A vertical format negative.
