On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the enclosed bridge between 27½ and 31½ stations on 01 deck looking aft and to port from 30 station on the centreline. The chart table is on the left, a visual display unit is in the centre and a communications desk equipped with an internal switchboard, telephones, a microphone and a weapons push button command box is on the right.
