On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the enclosed bridge between 27½ and 31½ stations on 01 deck looking aft and to starboard from 30 station on the centreline. The chart table is on the right next to the open hatch leading down to the lobby on 1 deck. A receiver panel, Decca power supply box, Decitron coupler box, fleet disposition board, electric fire, three coil control boxes, a microphone and a foam fire extinguisher are against the aft bulkhead.
