On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the enclosed bridge between 27½ and 31½ stations on 01 deck looking forward and slightly to port from 30 station on the centreline. All of the bridge windows have been covered with wooden boards. The pelorus repeater is in the centre. Against the bulkhead are telephones, loudspeakers, an intercom switchboard, an azimuth repeater, revolution indicator, rudder position indicators and a lifebuoy alarm. A vertical format negative.
