On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the conversion machinery and radar power room between 31 and 35½ stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking aft and to starboard from near the door showing the battery rack in the foreground with a notice attached to it warning 'Danger Alive' and a wit has written 'no kidding' on it. A large control panel and voltage regulator is against the aft bulkhead.
