On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the junior rates' mess between 23 and 27 stations on 3 deck looking forward and to starboard from 25 station on the port side showing a kit locker and a mirror against the forward bulkhead. More kit lockers are on the right and an air conditioning unit is in the corner under the deckhead. A triple tier bunk is against the ship's side on the extreme left. A vertical format negative.
