On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the junior rates' mess between 23 and 27 stations on 3 deck looking aft and to port from 24 station on the centreline showing suitcase racks on the left. Kit lockers, a fire hose stowage rack and a tannoy are against the aft bulkhead. A triple tier bunk is on the right with a litter bin in the right foreground. A vertical format negative.
