On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the junior rates' mess between 23 and 27 stations on 3 deck looking aft from 23½ station on the port side showing a mirror, two kit lockers and a triple tier bunk unit on the left. A kit locker and an air conditioning unit are against the aft bulkhead. Two triple tier bunk units are against the ship's side on the right.
