On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the galley and preparation space between 41 and 46 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking forward from 44 station in the preparation space showing the galley cooking range control panel on the right with an automatic emergency lantern and a fire extinguisher next to it. A work surface with storage below and a first aid cabinet at the end is on the left. Above the work surface is the access door to the funnel uptake. Against the forward bulkhead are another worktop, storage shelves and the grill and shallow fryer.
