On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the galley and preparation space between 41 and 46 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to port from 45 station on the starboard side of the preparation space showing a worktop unit stacked with boxes on the left. It shows signs of being cleaned with metal polish. A large mincer and mixing machine is next to it. On the right is a Lec chest refrigerator and beyond it is a workbench with a first aid cabinet on the end of it and the access door to the funnel uptake above it. The arched entrance into the servery has a tannoy to the left and a hand basin with paper towel holder to the right.
