On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the engineer's office and NBCD headquarters between 47 and 49 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking forward showing a worktop with an air conditioning unit above it. Pinned to a notice board on the right is a comic poster showing the rear view of an elephant urinating and the caption reads 'It never rains, but it pours'.
