On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the senior rates' sleeping annexe between 62½ and 68 stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking forward from 67 station showing a double berth bunk unit with the upper bunk rigged for sleeping and kit lockers with suitcase space above. Against the forward bulkhead are mess and cleaning gear lockers. On the right are the backs of kit lockers and a triple tier bunk unit.
