On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the senior rates' sleeping annexe between 62½ and 68 stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking aft from 63 station on the starboard side showing a triple and a double bunk units against the side of the ship. A kit locker with a portable radio on it and an air conditioning unit above are against the aft bulkhead. A triple tier bunk unit and four kit lockers are on the right.
