On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 56 and 61½ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft from 59 station showing the end of a bunk unit on the left with kit lockers and another bunk unit beyond. An electric fire and an air conditioning unit are against the aft bulkhead. Kit lockers and coat hanging space are on the right. A vertical format negative.
