On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the lobby between 62½ and 68 stations on 3 deck looking forward from 67 station. On the left is the mortar projectile room. On the right is the mortar metadyne power room with the NBC store forward of it. The watertight door in the forward bulkhead is closed but not clipped. A vertical format negative.
